Our Story

Many years ago, we bought a plot of land on a mountain with a breathtaking view. That was the first step toward realizing the dream of a house overlooking the sea on a Greek island, where time seems to stand still.

It was a long, complicated, very slow, and ongoing process. During this long process, we came back to the island year after year.

The kids grew to know the land and feel at home, and were eagerly awaiting our yearly visits to the island, as soon as the summer vacation starts.

Only after we felt truly at home, and the kids were hardly kids anymore, we have finished building it.

Our original plan didn’t include three houses, and definitely not for renting purposes, but then, Life happened…

And, we ended up building three houses. We built them like we feel a home should be, and we can only testify on our own behalf – when we want to recharge, heal, rejoice, or feel close to one another and to ourselves, we go to Ma-Rabu.

We stayed here in various constellations. Nuclear family, extended family, work friends, just couples of friends, just the women, just the men… either way we came, it was great. The Magic worked.

We love the island for many reasons: there are no shopping malls, there is no attempt to adapt the island to the tourists, on the contrary, the food is amazing, the sea is perfect and clean, but most importantly, the people are absolutely charming. One by one. It is simply a pleasant place to be.

And, a bit about the source of inspiration for the name Ma-Rabu;

My father, may he R.I.P, had a verse from the Book of Psalms he used to recite whenever he encountered and was thrilled by the wonders of Creation:

‘Ma Rabu Maasecha Hashem’ (Psalms 104:24)

And, in the English version: ‘Oh Lord, how manifold are thy works!’

At our home, looking out from the terrace, you can feel the wonder of Creation.

For real.
